Andrew B Myers

I don’t even know where to start when it comes to tellin’ you kids why I dig on these pics so well. Maybe it’s because I can’t quite figure out why I like ‘em so much. Actually I can—it’s the colors. It’s the composition. It’s the minimalist content.

These super duper juber desaturated colors dancing with this minimalist subject matter through the night makes these photos seem so gentle. A mother’s touch right on your eyeballs to make away any woes which may have befallen you. A blanket to wrap your naked body while you spend your morning watching netflix because you’re too hung over to do anything else. Or simply a kind word.

That’s what I’m filled with when I look at these and I understand that you’re emotions may not be compelled to mirror my own, but you can’t deny that they must trigger some thought in that head of yours. Be it love or hate, angst or compassion, something’s going on in there.

I find myself not sure how to bring this post to a close so just get yourself over to Andrew’s site and look at more pictures.

Fadzly Mubin

Another great find on the Flickr. Fadzly, from Malaysia has been surprisingly taking photos for only 5 years! Crazy! And, if you have a trained eye, you can see that these are all taken with FILM! Also crazy.

These pictures have something that you don’t see a lot in nature photography and that is a lot of contrast. Everyone is always trying to make everything clear throughout the image. But here, you have these deep, dark silhouettes creating graphic shapes around the composition, causing the detailed areas to just illuminate the photo with rich, painterly colors. Amazing. Speaking of painterly, the first photo I saw of this collection was the parrot on that creamy gray background. I thought it was a painting and it caught me so off guard, I had to look through all 200 pictures on his stream. I suggest you do the same and get inspired to grab your mom’s old 35mm Cannon and take your own. Though you probably don’t live in an amazing place like Malaysia, but you can still give it a shot. Ha ha, get it? SHOT? …

Alejandra Román’s Dale Magazine

This is something which moves my heart into a profound state of being. How can you not feel blessed in the presence of such a wonderful grid? I want so badly for this student final to fall into my proffered embrace right now.

We’d go have mimosas in the park, have coffee, and go to the beach to watch guys hit on girls; the smiles we’d share would have you believe that true love is possible. Until the darkest sunny day we’d ever know where I’d fall prey to an afternoon nap on the couch as the sun slowly scanned across my vonerable countenance, with Dale Magazing resting, exhausted, on my chest until it slips to the floor below. Selena’s cat, Moose, get’s a hold of Dale magazine and begins to bite, claw, pull and tear at Dale Magazine and the perfect bound, 72 pages of heaven never had a chance.

But that’s just what Moose does: everything she can do to take from you the few you love.

Anyway, you’ll be wise to check out the rest of Alejandra’s work on her Behance and show her some of your big L for love

Daren Newman

I’m sort of a sucker for ornate type and Daren’s work is no exception.

It’s awesome to see how he decides how well the letters play together. Like he takes each letter or word and puts it in a cage with another letter or word and pokes at them both with sticks to force some interaction, then he designs the result. Maybe they play well and form this beautiful flowing body. Or maybe they get a little crazy in a beautiful press and mash, creating sweaty ligatures all over the place.

Daren also does illustrations, which there’s a taste of in the post, but there’s full servings for your eyes in his portfolio, so be sure to bring your eye bibs.

Wagashi

Oh, you little baby sweets. You make my heart melt and my mouth water. Why have I never put you in my belly? My goal this month is to find the best places in Seattle to eat you, and then eat you.

If you don’t know what wagashi is like myself, it is a sweet treat made from ingredients such as bean pastes, fruits and jellies. Imagine a Japanese marzipan-like sweet, but way prettier. It is typically eaten at teatime. Yum! :D

Aren’t these photographs amazing also? They make the presentation come to life along with the already beautifully made wagashi. My favorite is the carp in the tank. So cute! Here are two places you can find them in Seattle:

New Mix For Gettin’ Sexy On

BossnotBoss’s 2nd mix is a little more sensual than our last. The Sexy Mix is good for when words just aren’t enough. When body language is the only way of communicating. As though a simple caress carries more meaning with it than any recited sonnet ever could.

These are just a few of my favorite tracks to get it on to but I wanna know what some of yours are. Let us all know in the comments

So go off and get off with your favorite other on this sunny sunshine weekend in the park and put in a gyration for BossnotBoss :)

ps. If a little baby child is conceived to this mix and you decided to keep it, it’s initials have to be BNB, and it’s middle name has to be Not. So it is writen, so are the rules of the mix

pps. Yes, that BnB logo is real hair and makeup ;)

Homework…. no, the BOSS kind

Your first instinct may be to find out where I live, come over, knock on my door, then fart on your own hand and slap my face in disagreement with my submission that homework is BOSS. You’d be making a fool of yourself upon realizing that I’m not talking about the classic academic antagonist to the your protagonist weekend, but rather a design firm which is unleashing beautiful posters unto the world (also, you must now wash your smelly smelly poo hand).

Take in the work of this Polish firm and be moved by their use of shape, space, and rhythm which is super duper juper simple, but powerful. Oh and be sure to check out even more of their work on their crazy Polish website.  Dot PL…. weirdos.

Grandaddy

This band will be in my top three for the rest of my life. It’s weird knowing that you love a band so much, they can never be replaced by any future music finds, no matter how great. Partly it’s because they’ve been around so long they’re like a worn, unsupportive couch or an old family pet. They will always feel the same, no matter how outdated and used they are (note to self: condoms are not like these things–throw out the condoms).

Grandaddy. Sweet with your warm thought-out guitar rifts. Dark from your deep, methodical, incessant drumming. Your comforting, odd voice echoes in my head even after you are over. You make me feel close to nature and absolutely cold towards the technological world. You are underrated, understated, and terribly impecable. You hit the spot every time I listen to your entire musical history whenever I clean my apartment, even that stuff from ’92 which is so different from your later creative ventures. I will blast you through my speakers with the windows open. I have no shame when it comes to you. If you asked, I would wear my apron with nothing underneath.

I know that like most old band crushes, you might not like Grandaddy as much as I do. But listen to these tracks, which are so amazing, and give them the chance they never got to be recognized: Fuck The Valley Fudge, Summer It’s Gone, Shangri-La, At My Post, Jeez Louise, Rear View Mirror, Where I’m Anymore, Campershell Dreams, Wives Of Farmers, Lost On Yer Merry Way, and of course The Nature Anthem, my absolute favorite.

Cristian Boian

I’m not sure what it is about this kid’s work that has me diggin’ on it as much as I am, but maybe you can pinpoint what’s going on after a peep.

Perhaps it’s the idea that organic and geometric with shapes and rhythms could possibly be married like some sort of beautiful sea shell. Perhaps it’s all the fine details that are going on in the negative space. Whatever it is, I want more of it.

Peep more of CB’s work here and show some love with a comment :)

Way Home

I hope y’all have been pining for a little dung in your Monday cuz the commotion in this motion is makin’ waves in my ocean.(that doesn’t really make sense, but whatever. When you start your own sideways blog and write posts for it, you can make all the sense you want)

The first thing I fall in love with is the character designs. They’re super cute and awesome and I want to see more of it. A lot more of it. So much more, I need a bigger screen just to be able to contain all the ‘more’ I desire.

Then I fall in love with the way everything’s animated; the way the characters move and flop about. So goooooood :D

I hope you enjoyed this dung journey and are inspired to start one of your own.
