Big screen that shit!

for a greater taste of that decadent Wyatt, be sure to hit up his blog and show some love

After running the blog for a few months we noticed that we had very few ‘not boss’ updates and many many ‘boss’ ones. So each time you hit the site there would be a new boss hit, but the ‘not boss’ is just how you left it. Only half the site would update…. visually anyway. A redesign was clearly in order.

Why just redesign? why not also talk about making bossnotboss itself more boss? there’s been a lot of talk about what we’re going to do and where BnB is headed and the sort of new things we plan to implement.

To Jim Tierney book covers are zits cuz he’s makin these ones POP. I am really feelin’ his sense of color and that hand done type. It’s as if the book lucky enough to fall into an embrace of a Tierney cover is magically nourished with personality and character all it’s own. He also has a couple posters and some drawings to check out, but they’re not quite as enchanting as the covers. Perhaps it’s because the covers contain a wondrous tale which you anticipate to arrest your imagination for as long as you’re charmed into consent.

That’s what I think, but I wanna know what you think about them!

I’m feelin’ the playful type in Superexpresso. My type class has got me to notice when people put more time into making type alive and breathing. When people give characters character! So when I rolled my peepers across Superexpresso I had to share it with you guys. Although I really like that the type isn’t just straight font matter, I gotta say that 10 is freakin me out a bit. On top of having dope type, there’s also some cool illustrations for you to get all giddy about.

Should you ever find yourself within the bowels of Barcelona, be sure to find Michele and do something cool!

Duane Keiser has been running the blog, a painting a day, for several years and it’s just about as dope as it sounds. Almost everyday he puts up some amazing painting of some everyday object except the way he seems to capture it simply makes my jaw hit the floor. Not until I saw his work had I yelled: “that peanut butter and jelly sandwich looks AMAZING!!”

Duane kicks it big easy in Virginia and I would quite surprised to learn that he’d been practicing Shotokan for over 20 years. He says the discipline learned through Shotokan easily translates into discipline in painting.

He sells through ebay, cutting out the middle man of the galleries. His blog and marketing strategy has earned him great recognition and I suggest you show him some love

I heard Dam-Funk a while back and was like, ‘yeah, that’s pretty dope.’ Then I caught this video of him playing a piano version of one of his tracks and had the grab the album. Once my ears peeped toeachizown, all I could think was: “DAAAAAAAAAMN! this is what I’ve been waiting for!” It’s got that ‘summer madness‘ sound with some modern-sexy-time stirred into the flow.

Check these tracks and check the album and you’ll be cool as ice on wax

A corporate identity class assignment has caused me to take great interest in letterhead design and then I found Letterheady. This collection of letterheads proves that there really is no ‘typical’ design aside from the idea of ‘maybe leave some room in the middle should we have to write to somebody.’ It’s too bad that letterheads are fading out due to email and internet stuff, although my classmate, Marc Lawrence, introduced the idea of a sort of email skin which would emulate letterhead design. A boss idea to say the least and something that should be happening right now.
(yes, that is Hitler’s in there)

*gotta give props to Letterology which is where I caught Letterheady. Good find, Jen

Having graduated from Nihon University: art department of cinema in 2002, this kid is just chillin in Tokyo making boss live video performance eye candy. His stuff has been shown in international festivals and galleries around the world which is slightly more than I can say about my own work. He says that he’s trying to mix up boundries between contradicting matters such as past & future or truth & lie, but I don’t see it. Looks like an over glorified WMP visualizer, but it looks damn good.

He’s got a handful of cool cd art he’s done, but they’re depicted through terrible photos not worthy of BNB. You can peep the art and other videos at his site if you’re curious to see more
